Did you all have a fun weekend, friends? I spent my days up in Vermont at a friend's vacation home in celebration of my good friend C's birthday! The weather gods smiled and we had a lovely time boating, grilling, and just enjoying ourselves. On Sunday morning, before we began to ready ourselves for the drive home, my friend S suggested that we visit her favorite antique store a few towns away before leaving. With the promise of vintage treasures and my heart set on more handkerchiefs to add to my collection, we were off!
The Antique Center at Camelot Village in Bennington is really an impressive space. It's hard to imagine that one could fill a 13, 500 square foot space with antiques, let alone over-stuff it, but with vintage jewelry, furniture, old typewriters, sports memorabilia and anything else your vintage-loving heart could ever hope for spilling from every nook, cranny, and shelf, this place manages just fine!
The Type A part of me will let you in on the fact that one of my favorite things about the store was how organized it was! And, artfully at that. Even though there really is more in the shop than can be appreciated in an afternoon, everything is neatly categorized, labeled, and arranged. I loved it.
Three of my favorite items in the store! A rainbow bright collection of rotary telephones, a leather postcard from 1908, and a signed photograph of the dreamy Robert Redford. I swoon. For the phones, I mean. I'm talking about the phones.
Now, for the fun part! My obsession with signet rings was fed when I came across this absolutely stunning 14K gold piece. It is classic, with intricate cuts around the monogram, and its size is neither minute nor garish. The curator said that it can be cleaned up and engraved easily, and with that, I was sold. Not to mention it fit my right ring finger perfectly (a sign!) For $78, I think I got a great deal, don't you? I will update you on the engraving process after I make a very giddy visit to the jewelers this week!
Is there anything more thrilling than digging for buried treasure? Not to me!
